Swim Teams
We have two swim teams.
The summer league team represents the Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club in an instructional league that competes against other area yacht and country clubs in June and July. The other team is the Lighthouse Point Aquatic Club which competes in USA Swimming throughout the year.
LPYRC- Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club Summer Swim Team
This team is for children 12 years old and younger. We compete against other local yacht and country clubs in June and July. Daily practice includes basic fundamentals for fitness swimming in a group format. The focus is on instruction with an introduction to competition at an appropriate pace. Children in all races win ribbons. There are five meets, with three on Thursday evenings and two on Saturdays. Participation at every meet is not required.
June 14 – August 7, Practices M-F, 9-10am. Members $100, Non-members $120.
LPAC- Lighthouse Point Aquatic Club, a USA Swimming Club.
This team practices and competes throughout the year. For the younger ages the program remains instructional. As swimmers progress through adolescence and make a stronger commitment, they strive to compete and succeed at the highest levels of the sport. This offers access to the highest levels of competitive swimming by traveling to large meets with others clubs in USA Swimming. In the Junior groups and above, there is a required yearly USA Swimming registration of $55 which also covers further insurance for participation at sanctioned swim meets.
Skills II
This group continues the development of the Skills I group in the Lesson program. The swimmers begin to learn the four competition strokes starting with freestyle and backstroke, and then progressing to breastroke and butterfly.
Tuesday and Thursdays: 4-5pm, $40 per month.
Skills III
This group also develops the strokes while adding an additional day of practice.
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: 4-5pm, $50 per month.
Race Skills
The last segment of the skills groups develops the four strokes for competition and learns the appropriate starts and turns.
Monday – Fridays: 4-5pm, $65 per month.
Junior
This group begins to apply knowledge of the strokes and skills toward swimming consistently for distances and introducing longer workouts. This involves practice swimming lengths of the pool with instruction in various drills, kicks, and strokes. A goal is to swim all four competitive strokes within the official standards of USA swimming. Mondays – Fridays: 4-5:30pm, Saturday: 8-9:30am, $75 per month.

Tim Koze
Aquatic Director and Head Coach
Tim has been involved with aquatics and competitive swimming for over thirty years. After starting age-group swimming at age 7, he competed for several YMCA’s before attending The Peddie School in Hightstown, NJ. He later attended the University of Vermont and then Rutgers University. He held team records at both schools in the Individual Medley.
While in college, he started as a summer league head coach and lesson instructor. During later academic years he coached with several USA swimming clubs. After graduating college in 1993, he returned to his high school, The Peddie School, where he was the Head Age-Group Coach and Varsity Assistant for five years. During his tenure, the successful USA club team grew to over eighty athletes and he staffed a lesson program to teach hundreds of children to swim. The high school swimmers were 1995 Boys National Champions and Girls runners-up. The high school and club team both produced US Open, Junior and Senior National qualifiers and he attended the 1996 Olympic Trials with four Peddie students.
Tim also coached at the University of Miami from 1999-2000 working with college, age-group and master’s swimmers. Tim began coaching and instructing here at the Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club during the summers in 2007 and continues to guide swimmers of all levels to improve their skills and enjoy the water.
